You're Engaged! -- Here's What to do Next

Yay! You’re engaged! This is one of the most exciting moments of your life. Now, it’s time to enjoy it! Take some time to let this huge life-changing moment sink in. Just remember there is no set timeline once you get engaged. It is completely up to you as a couple to discuss where this journey will take you next.

Here are a few things to keep in mind following your engagement.

Take Time to Yourself

In a time when we are connected and everything is only a click away, it is important to remember to spend time alone with just the two of you. Take a couple of days to enjoy each other’s company now that you know you are going to be together forever!

Tell Your Friends and Family

You might want to post your exciting announcement right away but give yourself some time. Call your parents and your besties, they’ll want to know first! This way you will be able to FaceTime with them and tell them all about the proposal.

Post it!

You’ve taken some time for yourselves and the two of you are now ready to tell everyone. Snap that perfect pic of you and your new fiancé!  Be sure to get a close up of the ring, everyone will want to see it. Get ready for the likes and comments to start rolling in.

Get Your Ring Sized and Insured

Your new engagement ring is now your most prized possession so let’s make sure it’s safe. Have your ring size as soon as possible so it doesn’t have a chance to fall off your finger and get lost. At GMG Jewellers we can have your ring perfectly sized for you within a week. So, if you have engagement photos or parties planned your ring can be ready for you in no time. Also, be sure to have your ring appraised and insured. We recommend using Jewellers Mutual because they specialize exclusively in jewellery insurance.

Plan a Timeline

It may seem like you have all the time in the world right now but once you start planning, you will realize how important it is to be organized. There is no rule when it comes to how long you should be engaged before your wedding. Many couples plan to be engaged for 12 to 18 before they get married. Wedding planning can be stressful so give yourselves enough time to plan the wedding you’ve always dreamed of.

Now, it’s time to start planning the most magical day of your life!
