Love Story: Caitlin + Dakota
Travel is back! We are so excited all of our honeymoon winners will finally be able to jet off to their dream destinations. Our latest honeymoon winners, Caitlin and Dakota, are thrilled to go on the holiday of a lifetime. Before they take off, let’s get to know this incredible couple. Here is their love story as told by Caitlin!
How and when did you two meet?
Dakota and I met when we were in high school, we rodeoed together for many years, and we were really good friends. We went our separate ways for a few years then, in 2016 we started seeing each other, and the rest is history! We have traveled around the world together over the past 6 years, and too many states to count. It has been so wonderful being back in each other’s lives.
What are some activities that you two enjoy?
We both love the ranch life; horses, buckin’ bulls, and all the critters we have on our farm! We have built our acreage from nothing but a stubble field over the past couple of years. It has been so fun working together to build the home we have always dreamt of. We love the rodeo. I’m a barrel racer and Dakota is a professional bull rider. The rodeo is what brought us together so it makes sense that it is a huge part of our life.
How did he pop the question?!
Dakota asked me to marry him at my parents’ place last May, they live in southern Alberta. He made many plans to ask me while we were there but I guess I kept ruining them. My whole family went for a walk by the creek to “check on the horses” before everyone left to go back home. Then, Dakota took our dog Blondie and myself down to the creek and got down on one knee! Instant tears. I was completely surprised. I loved every aspect of how he asked. My family is very important to me, so having them there meant the world to me!

What are your favourite things about your ring?
I love everything about my engagement ring. Dakota picked it completely on his own, which is the part I love the most! I had not even thought about what style would look good on my finger, so he did a very good job. My ring is classy yet has subtle hints of our western lifestyle. It’s simply perfect and I will cherish it forever. GMG has been wonderful throughout this entire experience.
Where are you two planning to go on your DREAM HONEYMOON?
We are so blessed to have won this amazing honeymoon. We have been looking into a few different places. Dakota and I have always dreamt of staying by the ocean in a bungalow or a seaside villa. We have looked into a few resorts but we are leaning towards St. Lucia or the Bahamas. It’s been a dream of mine to see the Caribbean sea and white sand beaches! We are so excited to spend time together for a couple of weeks. Most of the traveling we have done together has been for work so it will be so nice to relax and enjoy each other's company!
