Love Story: Chelsea + Jason
Chelsea and Jason are the lovely couple that won their DREAM HONEYMOON during our Exclusive Designer Event. They are extremely excited to make their travel plans but first, they have a wedding to plan. Chelsea and Jason met online in December of 2018 but didn’t meet in person until the beginning of 2019. Here is their love story.
When did you know Jason was the one?
I don’t think that there was a certain moment I knew but, since we started dating he has made me feel safe, and I always feel incredibly loved by him. Jason has so many qualities that are entirely opposite of me and I feel it’s his steady, calm, and patient nature that made me fall in love with him. Being so opposite of me means he is able to calm me down while listening and supporting me. I would also say that covid brought us together and made me see how much of a support he is to me. I can’t imagine the last year without him.
When did you know Chelsea was the one?
I knew she was the one after we went on a trip to Edmonton and she could sleep beside me no matter how loud I snored… that’s true love. Honestly, the best way to put it is that I feel she compliments everything that I feel I lack to an extent that it makes me a better person.
Tell Us About the Proposal
Jason actually surprised me when he proposed, which is not an easy thing to do! We had shopped for the ring together, with me narrowing it down to my two favourites, both from GMG, then leaving it up to him to pick the perfect one. So, I knew a proposal was coming at some point. It was an ordinary December evening; we made hot chocolate and went to look at Christmas lights. On our way home, he wanted to stop and look at the big Christmas tree by midtown plaza. It was there that he got down on one knee... and that’s all I remember. I love that now, every year when we look at Christmas lights, or even when we see a massive Christmas tree, I’ll remember the day he proposed. Also, he told me after he proposed that he carried the ring around for a while waiting for the perfect moment, which is incredibly special to me.
What are some of your favourite things about your ring?
We went to almost every jewellery store in Saskatoon on the search for the perfect ring. My favourite thing about my ring is how much it sparkles! I also love that Jason picked it out. When we were shopping, I was torn between two rings. It’s incredibly special to me that he knew which ring I would love. It really is a reflection of our relationship because I can be quite indecisive sometimes but, Jason knows me so well, he always seems to know what I want. I didn’t expect to love a rose gold ring, and I definitely didn’t think I wanted a combination of rose gold and white gold, but I absolutely love my ring!
Tell us a little bit about your shopping experience at GMG.
Shari helped us, and we loved working with her. She seemed to understand my style and what I wanted, even though I’m notoriously indecisive, and helped pick things that she thought I’d like. I love chatting with her.
We have nothing but positive things to say about Shari and GMG Jewellers. She was so helpful when showing us different rings. When I came back to make the purchase, she helped me choose a fantastic diamond that Chelsea loves. When we got the email about the bridal event, we thought it would be a good time to shop for our wedding bands. It was a great decision seeing as we won our DREAM HONEYMOON!!
What aspect are you most excited about for your wedding day? Any details that you are willing to share?
Chelsea: I’m excited to see how all the planning comes together! We are getting married on New Year’s Eve so are excited to celebrate our new marriage while ringing in the new year with friends and family. I’m also looking forward to the moment Jason first sees me in my wedding dress.
Jason: I’m excited to see Chelsea in her wedding gown. I’ve been asking her to keep it a secret from me from the start. Anytime she wants to talk about it to her friends and family, I have to leave the room or tell her to go somewhere else. I think that will be a special moment.
