Hitched: Chalynn +Adam

Hitched: Chalynn +Adam

Chalynn and Adam got hitched on July 13th, 2019. They had an amazing rustic wedding at Agar’s Corner with all of their friends and family. Their love bloomed 4 years ago and when they moved in together, they just knew it was meant to be. Read their love story below, told by Chalynn.

Tell us about the proposal. The proposal happened at midnight on New Year’s Eve. We were out at a friend’s acreage to celebrate the New Year and Adam got down on one knee at midnight. He ended up opening up the ring box upside down so it looked like the ring wasn’t in there, but he quickly flipped it back around to show me the ring.

Tell us about your wedding band shopping experience at GMG. GMG has a great welcoming atmosphere! Every time that we would come in, there was always at least one staff member greeting us. I appreciate the patience that the staff working with us had. I am very indecisive, which made me believe that it would be difficult for me when shopping for rings. April and Sandy were able to make it very easy for us. They are truly amazing at what they do. The shape of my engagement ring made it tough to match with a wedding band, so my choices were slightly limited. Although, that was a good thing because it is easy to become overwhelmed by the amount of rings in the store. We were able to find one that I absolutely love and it fits perfectly with my engagement ring! When shopping for Adam’s ring, which we did at the same time, there were a lot of choices but we quickly were able to narrow it down to three options. Picking one out of the three was the hardest part because they all looked good and all suited him so well. Due to his job, he wouldn't be able to wear his ring when he was working so the staff was able to guide us towards a certain material of ring and gave us feedback on what many other people in the similar situation have do. We are so happy with our ring choices and the time and dedication that the staff put in for us on that day.

What were your colours and theme? What adjectives would you use to describe your wedding? Our colours were burgundy and the theme was rustic. We wanted to have a lot of wood accents and some barn wood to decorate.

Give us a brief overview of your wedding day. Adam was getting ready at our current house. He was with his groomsmen and his father. I was getting ready at my parents’ house with my bridesmaids, mother, mother-in-law, and flower girl (my brothers and father were around but tried to stay away). The day looked to be beautiful but then it started to storm. It was worrisome as we only planned for an outdoor ceremony. Luckily, the weather cleared up before the ceremony and it was so beautiful outside!

Were there any surprises, special moments, things that didn’t go quite as planned, or funny stories that happened to make the day extra special? We were staying out in the camper that night and we had to bring our dog with us because anyone we knew that could look after him was at the wedding. When Adam went out to the camper with our dog, the air conditioning wouldn’t work so we weren’t sure what we were going to do. Eventually we decided to just leave him on a leash outside the camper. Also, when we were walking down the aisle, there were some technical difficulties and unfortunately, no music was being played so we walked in silence. Adam had brought and hung a light in the reception area that my grandpa built before he passed away and it was a really special touch!

What were some of the things that made your day unique? We had a mini car show at our wedding. Anyone who had old cars or trucks drove them out if they wanted to. My dad built a bench, which all guests were to sign as part of the guestbook. Also, my grandmother was one of the flower girls which was so special!

What were your favourite memories and moments? One favourite memory would be that our marriage commissioner asked Adam if he would obey and cherish his new mother-in-law. Also, me and my bridesmaids did a dance to “The Git Up” by Blanco Brown which was a lot of fun.

Do you have any advice for future brides? I left lots of my planning until quite late because I thought I couldn’t do any of it yet which was completely untrue! So I was a little overwhelmed close to the wedding day. Try to get your planning done early, it saves a lot of stress!
