Hitched: Josh & Jordan

Hitched: Josh & Jordan

Meet Josh and Jordan.  This GMG couple were married in August of 2015 and are sharing a bit about their special day with us.

How did you first meet?

Josh and I first met in the summer between grade eight and nine. We went to separate elementary schools but went to Bishop James Mahoney together for all four years. We became best friends in grade nine and that eventually blossomed into us dating in grade eleven.

How did you first meet?

After high school, Josh left for University in Buffalo, New York on a baseball scholarship and I attended University here in Saskatoon. In the four years of long distance we went through months of not seeing each other to long days where phone calls weren't possible. After him being done and coming home we had some tough times adjusting but when it was all said and done we knew we had been through the hard stuff already and what we fought for was worth keeping for life.

How did wedding planning go?  What was your favourite part of it?  And least favourite part?

I think I can speak for the both of us when I say that our wedding day was a dream and more perfect than we ever could have imagined. Our favourite part was all the love that we had received from our guests. We had about 165 guests that were a make of close family and friends from all aspects of our lives. There was a fairly large young crowd so we wanted things to be always fun and upbeat. I think everyone had lots of fun throughout the day and that we created an atmosphere that celebrated our love and appreciation that we have for each other and all the people in our lives that watched us grow.

Our wedding planning generally went very smoothly. I had booked all the main things a year in advance and we had consulted and hired RSVP Event Design to help bring our vision to life. My favourite part probably was at the very beginning when everything was so new to me and I had no idea what I envisioned the day to be or how I wanted it to look. Looking on Pinterest, bridal magazines, blogs and social media gives you so many amazing looks and ideas that helped me finalize how I wanted our day to look.

My least favourite part of planning was towards the end when all the final decisions have to be made. I generally do know what I like and do not like. Although, at times I can be indecisive because when I can't visualize something then I can't make the decision whether I want to include it or not. Also making the seating chart was difficult because we wanted people to enjoy everyone at their table and be able to socialize. Sometimes this can be difficult with mixed families and friends. Even though there were a few things that were not as much fun, our awesome wedding planner was always their to help us through and reassure us that everything would turn out perfectly.

When and where were you married?

We were married on August 8, 2015 in Saskatoon at The Delta Bessborough. Our ceremony was in the gardens and our reception was in the Adam Ballroom.

What made you decide on the location or date of your day?

We honestly only looked at a few locations. We liked the Bessborough because the room was already very detailed and elegant and was fitting to our romantic theme. I loved the colours in the room as well and I knew I wanted different shades of blue with white accents for the colour scheme. Also, August seemed like more of a safe month weather wise in Saskatchewan and it had been enough time past Saskatoon Jazz Festival for the gardens to get back to their normal state of beauty.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

We would definitely say our ceremony was so memorable. The music selection was very important to us and the songs that we selected from the groomsmen to when I walked down the aisle were so perfect. My aunt who I am extremely close with also married us and had customized our ceremony to be not as traditional but still reflect the love and appreciation we have for our relationship.

On your wedding day, what was your first thought as soon as you saw eachother?

The first time we saw each other was when I was walking down the aisle. My first thought was how I was so lucky to marry my best friend and that he looked so handsome. Josh says his first thought was that he gets to marry the love of his life.

And now the incredible details...  tell us a bit about your vendors.

My dress was purchased in Calgary at The Bridal Centre. It was a Pronovias dress and was the third dress I had tried on at that store and definitely was one I fell in love with from the first time I tried it on. My bridesmaids dresses were also purchased at the bridal centre.

Our flowers were done by Blossoms because I work right by them and have loved purchasing from them for many years. Blossoms specifically did my bouquet, the bridesmaids, groomsmen and family boutonnieres, as well as the centrepieces. Flowers for the outside ceremony were potted by my mother and nana.

Our cake was done by a family friend named Zoe Cahoon. She does cakes on the side and did a lovely job. We originally did not want a cake but it was important to our family that we cut the cake so we caved and got one.

Both of our rings are from GMG and are Tacori. Josh purchased my diamond separately and had it placed in a Tacori band. We had looked at rings somewhat seriously once before and through trying on different styles I had set my mind on solitaire style. My mom has the same style, and not only did I love the simple elegance of it but loved that it reminded me of my mom.

Our photographer who did our engagement photos and our day was Avenue Photography by Alan Verbeke. Our second shooter for the day was Desiree Martin who I also did a boudoir shoot with. Both of them were beyond incredible and so professional. We loved our photos and having them from when we got ready to our dance was such a pleasure.

My make-up was done by Katie Martin who was a recommendation from my girlfriend Kristin Antunes. I did a trial with her and she was able to create the beachy look I was going for. My hair was done by Alicia Soulier from Capelli Salon and I was also beyond impressed from my trial to the day with her professionalism and talent.

Josh 's suit was purchased at Caswells and was a custom design Coppley's suit. He wore a Dion bowtie, Eton dress shirt which were all also purchased at patent black Hugo Boss shoes. Our groomsmen also wore custom made EPH Apparel suits in a medium grey with navy tie and pocket square.

Thank you Jordan and Josh for sharing your memories and lovely photographs of your special day.  We really enjoyed hearing all about it.
