She said YES! - Lacey & Kurt

We're pleased to welcome Lacey and Kurt to the blog today to share their engagement story.

How and when did you meet?

Kurt and I met on Oct. 30th 2010.  We both grew up in Kindersley, a town of 5,000.  We lived a block from each other for most of our lives, attended the same schools but our paths never crossed.  We ended up meeting at a bar just outside of Kindersley.

How did you know he was the one?

It's a feeling that’s unexplainable. I think we both can say that since meeting each other our lives have been nothing but sore stomachs from laughing and some of the best years of our lives.

What activities do you enjoy together?

Kurt and I enjoy hiking with our dog Kacey.  We also love travelling, golfing and trying new experiences together.

Tell us about the proposal!

Kurt proposed on December 19, 2014 on our fourth anniversary.  We were leaving on a family holiday on the 20th, so decided to come into the city a day early to celebrate our anniversary.  We had cocktails at Six Twelve before heading to our supper reservations at Carvers.  After supper we (I) didn't have much planned, so Kurt suggested a walk down by the river.  We walked down to the river and were admiring the view when before I knew it Kurt was down on one knee.  I was completely shocked, the tears came immediately and after saying yes he picked me up and twirled me around; it was a magical moment.  We went back to our hotel; we were staying at the Bessborough, and toasted with a glass of champagne.

And the ring....

I had fallen in love with the details on 2 different rings.  After Kurt knew what I wanted I left it up to him and he went ahead and had my ring custom made at GMG Jewellers by combining the details from both rings.  Kurt went for quality over quantity and did not disappoint.

Do you have a date set for your wedding?

Our wedding is on Aug. 27/16.  Our ceremony is taking place in the Bessborough gardens with the reception to follow indoors at the Bess.  When I pictured my dream wedding I imagined it to be simple and elegant.  My favorite flowers are white roses; so there will be tons of white roses everywhere, our wedding colors are white and gold with pops of dark purple.  We are having a band for the dance and a poutine bar for late lunch.

Thank you Lacey and Kurt for sharing your love story and stunning photographs with us today.  We can't wait for a follow-up post after your August nuptials.  Many thanks to Melody Slemming of Mela Photography for the incredible photos!
