Meet Amy & Marc.  These local lovebirds are sharing a bit about their romantic proposal today.  Keep your eyes open for a follow-up post following their September nuptials.

How and when did you meet?

Short story - we met through a mutual friend.  Long Story - Marc was a bartender at Scratch Night Club while he was working on his PhD.  I was out with a couple of friends and acting somewhat out of character, decided to approach the bartender to get a date.  He said yes!  He also just happened to also be a physique model working on his PhD.  Pretty lucky.  It was really a situation that happens once in a life time.

How did you know she was the one?

Phew!  That is a tough one.  I don't think there was any one particular moment for me but you just know when you know.

What activities do you enjoy together?

We are both competitive powerlifters.  It would be fair to say that the majority of our free time is spent lifting heavy weights.  We have both always been athletic and it wasn't long after we started dating that Marc introduced me to powerlifting.  We have both been members of Team Canada, competing at numerous national and international competitions.  Marc, as a health and nutrition coach, has also been a head and assistant coach for Team Canada.

Aside from powerlifting, we both love spending time with our dog - Marlo.

Tell us about the proposal!

While I was completing my doctorate in Pharmacy at the University of Toronto, Marc remained in Saskatoon to complete his PhD in Nutrition.  This meant - long distance.  During the last two months of my time in Toronto, Marc came to live with me as he was writing his thesis at this point and could be away from Saskatoon.  I went to pick him up from the airport, he came off the plane, and asked me to marry him at Pearson Airport.  Marc's proposal was like a new start for us.  We made a promise to each other at that time to start making more decisions that would make us happy - starting with us getting married.

And the ring....

My ring is a rose gold, vintage inspired Zeghani engagement ring.  It's beautiful.  Marc picked it out without any help from me!  He was brave to pick such a unique design but he really picked the right one for me.

Do you have a date set for your wedding and what are you most looking forward to?

Our wedding will be in September with the reception at the Saskatoon Farmer's Market.  Marc grew up outside of Windsor, Ontario so we are really looking forward to highlighting Saskatoon to our out of town guests and of course throwing a huge party!
