Jan 2 Battle of the Rings - Round 2

We told you that we weren’t done investigating into what the most popular trends for engagement rings were. We have done more polls and are going to see if the last winner is still the #1 ring style. We dived into more styles and shapes to really hone in on the ultimate ring! Now, let’s get to the comparisons!

We did a quick check-in on our Instagram story to see which shade of gold is the most loved. Out of rose, yellow and white, with 38% of the vote, white gold won this battle! Rose gold has been dethroned as the most popular shade of gold. Yellow gold is also becoming more popular by gaining an additional 2% of the vote. All shades of gold are gorgeous and we are seeing them slowly even out to be equally popular!

Last time we only compared solitaires and halos, we have dug deeper and asked about the classic three-stone setting, as well as hidden halos. Here’s how it played out: solitaires are still number one out of the three, coming in with 43% of the vote, halo followed with 34% and three-stone with 23%. When comparing hidden halos versus exposed halos, the dazzling exposed halo came out on top with 61% of the vote.

Since solitaire rings are still #1, we decided to look at the side profile and compare the cathedral style versus a 360° style. This was a close race with cathedral taking 53% and 360° taking 47%.

We then started diving more into the style of the ring and asked if you preferred a split or a straight band. Straight bands have a clean minimalist look, whereas split bands offer a small peek-a-boo of skin and a cascading look. The straight band was the winner with 69% of the vote, and split band took 31%.

Since the first round of battles, we have added a couple more shapes to our polls, asscher and radiant. The shapes that need more love in our future polls as they tend to be less common, but gaining traction are: asscher (11%), pear (8.1%), marquise (5.7%), and radiant (4.2%). Our trendy, elongated stones, oval and emerald, are currently tied at 16.5%! Now, round and princess shaped diamonds are SUPER CLOSE! Winning by only 0.1%, princess is now the ultimate shape! Round holds 19% of the vote and princess clinched first with 19.1%!

Now, we took a quick detour from engagement rings to see what you prefer to pair with them, since that can change the look of the ring! We asked if you prefer to pair a wedding band or a wedding ring jacket with your engagement ring. The wedding band was our winning style with 65% of the vote, but on Facebook these styles were neck and neck, only 8 votes apart! We are seeing a growth in wedding ring jackets!
