Get ready for two of the sweetest (and funniest) love birds that we've had the pleasure of meeting!  Ben and Nicolette tied the knot in an intimate ceremony for two on the sandy and picturesque beaches of Hawaii. Their photos are absolutely breathtaking and this video is EVERYTHING.  Grab your tissues and press play - tears and goosebumps are sure to ensue.

How did you meet?

We met at work a little over 4 years ago.  We both work in the oil sands in Alberta and met while working on a project in Cold Lake.  We had mutual friends and ended up in the same places often.  We became friends first and a few months later had our first date.  We have been inseparable ever since.

....And when were you engaged?

We actually got engaged at GMG.  We were there looking for a bracelet for my grandmothers 90th birthday and we started looking at rings.  We found an amazing Simon G ring with tapered baguettes, the exact style I always imagined.  Then we left with just the bracelet.  By the next morning we both decided we just wanted to get married.  That there was no need for a big proposal or any secret ring shopping, that doing it together was perfect for us.  We went back to GMG, bought the ring and were engaged on Aug 23, 2017 Bens ring was also picked out at GMG, he got an Lashbrook Elysium ring with a black diamond.  It is beautiful as well, he absolutely loves it.

Where did you tie the knot - it looks absolutely magical!

We were married on the east cost of Oahu on Waimanalo Bay

Your wedding video is intimate and breathtaking and gave me the best kind of goosebumps.  Tell us how you came to the decision to elope.

Once we were engaged we couldn't wait to be married quickly and started looking into wedding plans immediately.  WHOA, so expensive.  And the stuff we had been looking at just didn’t feel right.  One afternoon we were sitting at the house talking about a wedding and decided it really needed to just be about us.  Our lives are so busy between working away from home, extracurricular activities of three children and our families living in so many different cities, like most couples there just isn’t much time left over for us.  So we decided to go on a trip and elope while we were there.  Two days later, September 19, we had flights and a hotel booked for Hawaii.

Tell us about your wedding day - was it everything you had hoped for?

We actually didn’t plan our wedding, we hired “Married with Aloha” to do it for us.  All we had to do was buy a suit and a dress, pick the type of cake and show up.  And we did the shopping for the dress and suit together!  Ben calls himself the best bridesmaid ever!  And I was pretty impressive picking out suits as well.  The dress was from Jessica Bridal in Regina and the suit was from Caswells in Saskatoon. The actual wedding was so stress free, no worrying about any details.  Married with Aloha booked the officiant, the permits, the photographer, the videographer, flowers, hair and makeup.  We literally just had to show up.

Would you be able to walk us through your wedding day and how you spent your time together celebrating?

NIC - The day of the wedding “Married with Aloha” had already arranged for hair and makeup to come right to my hotel room and help me get ready there.  Ben and I stayed in separate rooms the night before and went to the wedding separately.  Ben took a cab and I took a town car about 20 minutes after him.  We hadn’t seen each other  which is rare for us but also made it more special.  As soon as I pulled up at the beach it was time (naturally I was a little late).  As I walked around the corner and saw him standing out on the beach, just him and the officiant I knew we had made the best choice.  It was so breathtaking, all of it.  It was beautiful, intimate and 100% about us wanting to be husband and wife.

BEN - As Nic said I arrived earlier in a cab and met with our pastor (Mark) beforehand. We talked for about a half hour while everyone finished the set up. We stood on the beach and awaited my bride’s arrival. As she walked out onto the beach I felt it.... a calming that I didn't know existed.  I knew without a doubt that this is where I was supposed to be. She was stunning and I couldn't take my eyes off her. The wedding was everything that we'd hoped for and more!

Thank you Ben and Nicolette!  We're honoured to share your special day with our readers.
